Real Moroccan Tours principal guide Khalid Lamlih, was awarded the Gold Award at the 2017 Wanderlust World Guide Awards in London.
Testament to the passion and dedication he puts into every tour he guides, Khalid has the ability to change people's lives and the way they see the world.
A man from humble beginnings, Khalid grew up in a large Berber family in Morocco's Middle Atlas Mountains.
Always fascinated by the passing tours near the lake in his village, he watched and listened to the foreign languages and the wonderment of the tourists as they listened to the tour guides tell stories of the landscape. Khalid was eager to learn more, and as soon as he was old enough, he began assisting other tour guides and soaking up as much knowledge from them as he could.
Leaving a career in sociology Khalid undertook a gruelling 6 month training to become an official mountain guide, leading tourists to the top of Toubkal and learning to look after his clients in what would often be the most challenging of circumstances.
